Spotify Introduces Age Verification for All Users

Spotify has started requiring users to verify their age, restricting access to certain mature content for those who cannot confirm they are adults. The platform will block users suspected to be under 13 the minimum age allowed for an account—and may remove them entirely. This move comes as part of broader age verification measures introduced in response to UK legislation aimed at protecting young people from potentially harmful online content. While much attention has focused on adult websites and platforms like Reddit or Twitter, the rules also apply to services like Spotify. According to Spotify, age verification is now necessary to access some content and features, such as music videos labeled 18+ by rights holders. Although the policy was announced weeks ago, it has gained more attention recently following the implementation deadline of the Online Safety Act’s age verification requirements.
