Chinese scientists are developing advanced countermeasures against Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite network, which Beijing views as a major security threat. Research suggests deploying stealth submarines equipped with lasers, attack satellites with ion thrusters, and ground-based lasers to target Starlink satellites.
China’s concern stems from Starlink’s ties to U.S. intelligence and its potential military uses, providing a strategic advantage in space, cyber, and nuclear domains. Scholars from China’s National University of Defense Technology highlight the need to “hunt and destroy” the network, using both technical and diplomatic measures.
This effort reflects China’s broader goal to counterbalance Starlink’s expanding global coverage andinfluence in military and intelligence operations.
